Certifications
Goodman Speed confers three levels of certification to coaches/trainers/therapists that have demonstrated competence in improving cognitive, technical and athletic speeds.
Level 1 coaches have:
- Completed the Foundation course and passed an examination evaluating their understanding of the content and ability to apply it.
Level 1 coaches can:
- Design and deliver time-efficient warm-ups that effectively prepare athletes for training and competition.
- Apply strategies and drills for enhancing cognitive speed.
- Structure training sessions for developing technical speed.
- Coach fundamental exercises for improving athletic speed.
Level 2 coaches have:
- Previously held a Level 1 certificate
- Completed at least one Specialty course and passed an examination evaluating their understanding of the content and ability to apply it.
Level 2 Cognitive speed coaches can:
- Identify cognitive performance deficiencies, and train players to overcome them.
Level 2 Technical speed coaches can:
- Structure practices to maximize the speed of learning and enhancing skills.
- Teach sport-specific techniques that exploit the advantages that speed and quickness give players over their opponents.
Level 2 Athletic speed coaches can:
- Teach a variety of advanced exercises for improving movement speed (running, stopping, cutting, jumping) and rotational speed (throwing, swinging, kicking, striking) in multiple sports.
Level 3 coaches have:
- Previously held Level 2 certificates in at least two domains.
- Completed the Integration course and passed an examination evaluating their understanding of the content and ability to apply it.
Level 2 coaches can:
- Optimally juggle the training, travel, practice, competition and recovery needs of youth and adult high-performance athletes across a myriad of sports.
- Identify outliers within a team and make appropriate training modifications to meet their unique circumstances.
